Health Services

Welcome to Health Services at Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School!

The goal of Health Services at our school is to promote and protect the physical and emotional well-being of our students and staff.  Our office is staffed by a full time registered nurse, licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Education. Additionally, we have a school physician who is available to the school nurse for consultation.

The school nurse provides on-site health services that include: the administration of first aid, emergency care and medications; health counseling and education and the implementation and monitoring of state required immunization and health screening programs. In addition to providing direct services, the school nurse serves on evaluation teams to provide input on health and special education plans and develops health policies and protocols.  She is a member of both the Interdisciplinary Team, which addresses the needs of at-risk students, as well as the Wellness Committee.  The school nurse also maintains health resource information to assist students, staff and families with referrals, including access to health insurance for uninsured individuals.

The Health Office is located in Building B on the Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School Campus.  The School Nurse is Jane Frey, RN, MSN.  She is available Monday through Friday from 7:35 am to 2:20 pm during the school year and less frequently during the summer.  During the summer you can call or email her and she will try to get back to you as soon as she can.  For questions needing a prompt reply, it is best to call the main office during summer hours.
