Smith
Vocational and Agricultural High School (SVAHS) invites members of the Class of
2013, our incoming 9th grade class, to be part of our Summer Jump
Start Program. Students will become
familiar with Smith’s Green Campus Initiative, learn about sustainable and
renewable resources, and brush up their basic academic skills. While the content of our Summer Jump Start
Program will focus on science and technology, the three traditional basic areas
of reading, writing and mathematics will be joined with the three “R’s” of our
Green Campus Initiative: “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.” Starting with the general introduction to
sustainable and renewable resources and including an energy based field trip,
students will design a sustainable and renewable based project that they will
present to parents and faculty during the 9th grade
orientation.
The
Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School Summer Jump Start Program is
provided at no cost to either parents or the sending school district. Transportation will be provided from central
pick-up points in our sending communities.
Program
participation is limited to students enrolled or accepted to Smith Vocational
and Agricultural High School.
